Person Age Timeline

Enter a person's name to see their works mapped by age. Data from Wikipedia & Wikidata.

How to use this tool

  1. Type a person's name in the search box (e.g. "Hayao Miyazaki", "The Beatles")
  2. Select the correct person from the suggestions
  3. The timeline loads automatically, showing their works mapped by age
  4. Hover or tap on entries to see details

How it works

This tool queries the Wikipedia and Wikidata APIs in real time. It retrieves a person's birth date and their associated works (films, albums, books, etc.), then calculates their age at the time of each release.

All API calls go directly from your browser to Wikimedia servers. No data is routed through our servers or stored anywhere.

Who works well with this tool?

  • Film directors — Kubrick, Spielberg, Kurosawa, Miyazaki
  • Musicians — Beatles, David Bowie, Radiohead, YMO
  • Authors — Haruki Murakami, Stephen King, Agatha Christie
  • Artists and designers — Warhol, Banksy, Issey Miyake

The tool works best with well-documented public figures who have structured data on Wikidata. Lesser-known individuals may have incomplete or missing entries.

Why "age" matters

Seeing creative output mapped by age offers a different perspective than a simple chronological list. You can discover that Orson Welles directed Citizen Kane at 25, or that Hokusai created The Great Wave at 70. It adds a human dimension to a career timeline.

Data source

All data comes from Wikidata (structured data) and Wikipedia (free encyclopedia), both maintained by the Wikimedia Foundation. Data accuracy depends on community contributions — if something looks wrong, it may need a Wikidata edit.

FAQ

Why is a person missing from search results?

The person may not have a Wikidata entry, or their entry may lack a birth date. Try searching with their full name or native-language name.

Why are some works missing?

Works must be linked to the person's Wikidata entry with a release/publication date. If data is incomplete on Wikidata, it won't appear here.

Is my search data stored?

No. Searches go directly from your browser to Wikimedia APIs. We don't log, store, or track any queries.
